GCU Racing renew sponsorship with Ansys
GCU Racing is proud to announce their sponsorship renewal with Ansys for the 2026 Formula Student season.
Ansys is a global leader in engineering simulation software, providing powerful digital tools that allow engineers to design, analyse, and refine products in a virtual environment. By simulating performance before anything is physically built, companies can significantly reduce development time, cut costs, and improve overall reliability. Their software covers a wide range of engineering disciplines, including structural analysis to evaluate material strength and deformation, fluid dynamics to study how liquids and gases behave, and electromagnetics to understand interactions of electrical fields. Ansys also supports thermal analysis for managing heat transfer and Multiphysics simulations that combine multiple physics domains for more realistic, accurate results.
At GCU Racing, Ansys plays a crucial role in our design and development process. Their software enables us to simulate the loads, stresses, and environmental conditions that each component of our car will experience during operation. This ensures that every part is structurally sound and optimised before we commit to manufacturing. By validating our designs virtually, we can confidently select the correct materials and avoid the costly and time‑consuming process of producing components only to discover later that they cannot withstand the required forces. Ultimately, Ansys helps us build a safer, more efficient, and more competitive race car.
Our Head of Team Development, Stuart Whyte, said: “Our team uses Ansys to test and refine designs before manufacturing any parts, helping us save both time and resources. By running structural, aerodynamic, and thermal simulations, we can better understand how different components will perform under real-world conditions and make improvements early in the design process. This allows us to build a more reliable and competitive car while providing solid engineering evidence to support our design decisions.”
GCU Racing would like to thank Ansys for their continued support this season.
